The QI requirement for the fellowship is being overseen by Dr. Patel. He can help you develop a QI project as well as implement and present your findings.

Institute for Healthcare Improvement

Over the first year of fellowship, please complete the Basic Certificate in Quality and Safety. Please submit the certificate to Dr. Patel when you have completed it. This will satisfy part of the ACGME requirement for fellows to learn about how to coordinate patient care within the health care system; incorporate considerations of cost-containment and risk-benefit analysis in patient care; and, advocate for quality patient care and optimal patient care systems.

American College of Physicians Curriculum for Subspecialty Fellows
During year two of the fellowship please review the 7 modules that make up the ACP's Curriculum for Subspecialty Fellows. This satisfies the remainder of the ACGME requirement that that IHI modules started. There is no certificate for this course; you will just need to email Dr. Patel and attest to having reviewed the materials.

The scholarly activity requirement for the fellowship is being overseen by Dr. Lopez-Ruiz. It is possible to develop one project that satisfies the requirements for both QI and scholarly activity. If you want to work on a separate scholarly activity, Dr. Lopez-Ruiz can help guide you through the process.
